can I send UTF-8?

I use it in combination with Barcodescanner and send the scanresult to my pc in the local net. An Autohotkeyscript as a socket save it in a textfile. The script could receive UTF-8, but sendexpect seems to send only Ansi. Or miss i something?

Thanks for your hint. For other beginners here an example for german umlauts: the code for "ä" is c3 a4 so i 've to send \xC3\xA4.
