Hi David,

I love your product, but since the two last releases, I have the following problem:
  • Send/expect seems to be unresponsive when used in Tasker.
  • I open the Send/Expect app.
  • The plugin now works in Tasker.
Is this an isolated problem on my mobile or does it happen to more people?
I will try to play with the power saving settings of the phone to see if that can solve the problem.

Thanks for your product!

Olivier

Hello Oliver,

What version are you now using?  The latest is 2.2.5.  Beginning with 2.2.0, I added Tasker variable support for target and port, and then in 2.2.2, Tasker variable support for timeout.  But there have been some issues with compatibility with existing Tasker profiles.  Versions 2.2.3, 2.2.4, and 2.2.5 were bug fix releases for Tasker integration.  It sounds like you are still hitting an issue in this area.

Can you export a Tasker configuration (from Tasker) that contains a Send/Expect configuration that is misbehaving and email it to me?  Also, what version of Tasker are you using.

Thank you,

David

Hello again.

Also, can you clarify what you mean by "unresponsive when used in Tasker" ?  Is this when trying to edit the Send/Expect configuration within an existing Action?  Added a new Send/Expect step to an Action?  Or, when trying to run the Action?

Thank you.

Thanks David,

It is when I run the action.

Please enable Send/Expect logging, run the Tasker Action, and either send me or post the log here.

Hi David,

When I enabled the logging, the problems did not get logged. By changing the battery saving parameters on my phone, I managed to solve the problem.

I just included send/expect in the "not battery optimized" settings.

Thanks again for a great plugin.

FYI, this is most likely caused by the "Google app bug" and affects all plug ins. I have same or similar problem - works for day or two, then it stops unless SendExp[ect app is opened. I have 3 more (all of mine) plugins doing same thing. There is a sticky thread in the Tasker group.

There is a work around though - simply create a profile to open each plug in (and then go back to home) at 5 am let say, every day. It even works with exported KID app. Select "exclude from recent list" if you don't want to see them there. I've been using this method for 1 year now.
