We had so many requests in last weeks, we can barely keep up answering them. That's why I'm writing here.

Originally, RTAndroid was just a research project and I am the only active developer. But with support for Raspberry Pi things are now evolving way faster than expected. So I'd like to thank everybody for testing it and and sending us feedback. But I would also like to underline that we are not developing another custom ROM like CyanogenMod. RTAndroid has a clear focus: automation, industrial applications and reliable control. I'm really glad so many people actually like it and can imaging using it for everyday things. Nevertheless, we (or, actually... that's only me, so I) can't afford giving too much of support and developing features offside the actual focus for free.

The real-time extension will be commercialized in early 2017. We plan to keep the evaluation version for free, if used for personal purposes. Right now we are working on a reasonable licensing model, such that the time limit can be turned off for a small fee. In cases where a project can't wait until 2017, we do offer adapted versions of RTAndroid. This has to be negotiated separately in each individual case though.

I am very interested in supporting any kind of new and exciting projects, so please don't hesitate to contact me directly in case you need something special: https://git.embedded.rwth-aachen.de/rtandroid/contact/

Hello IK,

first, many thanks for your brilliant work, ceaseless pouring of upgrades, bug fixes, tweaks and so on! It is indeed a rare treat to find solutions that work directly 'off the internet shelf' as yours seem to do. The videos are very clear, and installing the (latest version, October tenth) android 7.0 on my RPi3 was a breeze. I did however run into problems when trying to transfer the gapps.sh onto the android. None of the present threads seem to address it, so I am asking you directly, if this is anything you have come across. I just couldn't connect to the internet. I don't know when exactly this happened, because turning on the Wifi seemed to function ok; only my own SSID didn't turn up in the list(?!). All my neighbours' SSIDs did however, thank you very much. Just not mine.

I went back to another installation, I have OSMC on another card, and lo and behold, no internet there either. This lead me to think that I had somehow crashed the wifi adapter on the machine, but the fact that other SSIDs show up would seem to indicate that the thing was still working, somehow. And the OSMC takes a dongle that finds my SSID, and can be wired directly - both avenues not open from the Android OS, it seems.

So what is the verdict? Is this something that happened with the latest update? Does anyone else have the same problem? Is there a fix? Is it something I missed? Did I crash the RPi or just inadvertently somehow blocked myself from using my own SSID? And BTW I should mention; I am on a home network on a router that is technically the property of the provider, so I have no access to fiddle with that. Not here, but will try out other wifi networks. And yes, I re-formatted and re-installed the distro on the SD-card, with identical outcome. I wrote it using a recent Linux Mint setup.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post these kinds of questions. I'm not sure I have privileges to start a thread. Anyway thanks again for helping the community to access google play goodies for use on the RPi.

Regards, Håkan

Again, thanks for

Hi Hakan,

I'm glad you like it.

I did however run into problems when trying to transfer the gapps.sh onto the android.

I don't get it. The script is supposed to be used on your host machine.

So what is the verdict? Is this something that happened with the latest update? Does anyone else have the same problem?

You can't connect to your internet router from RPi? It is still working on my hardware, so it shouldn't be Android's issue.

And yes, I re-formatted and re-installed the distro on the SD-card, with identical outcome.

Did you try using older releases (if they were working before)?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post these kinds of questions. I'm not sure I have privileges to start a thread.

No problem. And you should be able to create new discussion threads.

Please help me. I am install rtandroid 7 from 14/10/2016 08:30 to RPi3
hdmi_force_hotplug=1
hdmi_drive=2
hdmi_group=1
hdmi_mode=16
hdmi_ignore_edid=0xa5000080
config_hdmi_boost=4
disable_overscan=1
When connecting the RPi to the TV I see the inscription "Android_" But I do not see the logo. the screen goes black.
When connecting the RPi to the PC monitor I see the inscription "Android_", logo and everything loads fine.
My monitor shows that the signal by HDMI has a resolution of 1280x800 and the refresh rate of 53Hz. But my TV (AOC L32W751A http://www.hdtvreview.com/pdf/... ) does not support this refresh rate.
How to fix a black screen on my case?

Like many others, I am interested in getting a license that eliminates the reboot every 48 hours.  I sent a message to you separately asking about this.  I am testing RTAndroid as a system to monitor my security cameras using a third-party application and the reboot breaks everything, especially since wireless gets disabled.  It might not be such a problem if the wireless would reconnect automatically and if the reboot was predictable as to the time.

We are still preparing documents for the official start. As soon this is done, we will be glad to start offering licenses.
The auto-reconnect issue is very annoying, I am aware of it. I've heard there are apps at Google Play for automatic reconnect after reboot. But I didn't test them myself.
Regarding the reboots, they are predictable - 48 hours after boot. We do also provide extended versions for applications or evaluation setups that can't wait.

Is there any update on the licensing?  The reboot basically crashes the PI.  The evaluation message comes up but you can't close it.  The only option then is to unplug the power and restart.  I think this is related to the failure of the PI to boot when the tv is powered off during the boot process.

We are working on the official documents, but it will take a while. As I've mentioned in my post above, we plan with official launch in 2017.
The error you describing is new to me. Could you please elaborate on your setup such that I can reproduce it on my Pi?

Hi IK,

I have the samme problem the "Evaluation version" message, Im using your awesome version of Andriod with a full screen web browser for my school so we can share news with other students. I would love it if you give me a work around so the message will never popup.

Thank you for this great RtAndroid.

Hey, unfortunately there is currently no way to do that. We are currently working on activation / licensing feature, but it will take a while to set everything up.

ALso, in the modern version of RTANdroid is there still no workaround? I only use this as a way to play my favorite mobile games on the big screen. (Thanks in advance)

You mean workaround for removing the evaluation message? It is still in progress, as we need to finish the official registration for our new company. Estimated deadline for everything being done is June.

Hey, I love your version of android and how is the work on the evaluation message. I am using it for myself to play games and other builds of android keeps crashing. So my only choice is your builds. Could you tell me the approximate date when you will have an option to remove it? Also, could I remove the message and the time limit if I use it for personal purposes? Is there a fee for removing it?

Hello,

I installed the RTAndroid version on my Pi3, but i have some really annoying flickers (black flickers) on the loading screen itself (last 3 secs) and during video playback with chrome on youtube, on kodi too.
And the flicker starts when the mouse disapears.

I really tryed everything like:  most of the hdmi modes, hdmi boost, dpi etc.
i disabled the hardware accl....

i guess it ignores the hdmi settings in the config.cfg, it just starts with same resolution because of build.prop:
debug.drm.mode.force
when i disable it, it starts with the max. resolution.
but the system still booting and its loads the zimage, (path in the config.cfg) -> config.txt itself must be ok

i set the resolution per adb wm size, but the flickering stays.

any suggestion?
it is possible to disable the opengl drivers?

btw: the gapps.sh installation script worked without the adb kill-server cmd (around line 90)
on my pc

Starting next week there will be a possibility to purchase the deactivation of the trial message.

So basically folks, what IGOR has done is dupe everyone into debugging his "free" software , then took all the links down, and commercialised AndroidRT to what is now EMTERIA with the fucking annoying commercial crap and licence and watermarks. He has conned you all. DO NOT BUY EMTERIA ... let this IGOR idiot suffer. Android / Google is FREE , AOSP = Android Open Source Project ... there are other android versions that work perfectly and i am in the process of cracking Emteria and providing the crack on here.....be patient
