Endless boot after chmod 777 build.prop

I got the black display problem on my Sony Bravia. I edited the config.txt and then saw the first initial screen (Android Text on black background). So I decided to edit the build.prop file. I did a chmod 777 and edited the line "debug.drm.mode.force=1280x800" to "debug.drm.mode.force=1920x1080". Now I got the animated Android boot screen but nothing else! It's stuck in an endless boot...

The strange behavior is, that when I edit the build.prop as root without changing the permissions, I don't get the animated boot logo (but my entry "debug.drm.mode.force=1920x1080" is successfully written to build.prop).

Any Ideas what's wrong here?

Solved it!!!

Got endless boot when editing access rights of "builds.prop". Without editing access rights, I had black screen. The Problem was the resolution I set within "build.prop". I always tried 1920x1080 -> didn't work. But with 1280x720 everything works fine now...:-)

Thanks for the feedback, I'll change the default resolution to 1280x720 today.

But I still don't understand why it doesn't work with 1920x1080 in build.prop. My TV supports this resolution and I tried it even on my Samsung TV (the other one is my Sony). It's still a little bit weird...

Strange, no idea why that happens. Did it actually work on the Samsung TV (any of the resolutions)?

Yes, 1280x720 also worked on my Samsung TV...

I've set 1280x720 as default resolution. Not sure why it doesn't work on Sony...
