Hello community,
I would like to enable wired internet on my smartphone so that I can use internet without radiations.
There
are several ethernet to usb adapters available for very cheap and
reports tell that this actually is possible (links down below).
So, I bought the adapter linked below and tried - but life would have been too easy if it had functioned on the first try ;).
My smartphone (a Samsung Galaxy S4 mini lte (GT-I9195) running lineage
os 16/ Android 9) doesn´t recognize the adapter and the adapter doesn´t
recognize the smartphone either. I also tried some other operating
systems (Lineage 15.1 und 14.1) so far and i tried the same thing on my
Galaxy note 1 (GT-N7000) running lineage 14.1. However it would never
provide an internet connection.
The Samsung Note seems to at least recognize the adapter, since the led
of the adapter is illuminated when plugged into the phone and connected
to an ethernet cable. Still there is no sign of the phone recognizing a
wired internet connection. The S4 mini on the other hand doesn´t show
any sign of recognition and the adapter isn´t blinking either. I didnt
find any option to enable an ethernet connection in neither of my phones
settings.
So, is there someone clever out there who might help me?
What keeps me from success?
-Is it the (cheap) adapter? -> which one works then? Do I need an adapter with external power supply?
-Is it the operating system? -> which sytem provides the needed drivers?
-Do I have to install the appropriate drivers along with my operating system? where do I find these?
-Is it the kernel? -> what kernel is the right one?
-Is the hardware of my phone not compatible? ->How do I recognize an ethernet compatible phone?
I´m thankful for any help.
Greetings David
