The black flicker as Android hands off to Qt

Even if we set the drawable in the manifest:

<meta-data android:name="android.app.splash_screen_drawable" android:resource="@color/splashScreen"/>

This is shown, but I have a SplashScreen in QML (White Rect with Image (nothing fancy)), the splashScreen drawable is shown, then black, then the SplashScreen.

Is there a way to eliminate the flicker? In iOS and OSX the app works correctly, so this is android specific.
