Hi everyone. I'm an android developer, but complete newbie in Android AOSP/OS.

I'm trying to start compiling and building a Android custom ROM, automotive to be exact, in a Raspberry Pi or even a NXP board.

Could you guys share some hints/tips on how to do it? Is it the same as compiling/building a ROM for smartphones?

Thanks in advance :)

I’m newbie in this section as well. It will be great if someone could provide the steps like (choose the kernel version, find the driver, etc.)

This suggestion is not specifically for automotive.
You can start here: https://source.android.com/
especially the sections Setup and Porting.
