DVM crash on emulator

I have compiled the android-platform for ARMv7 which i am running on the emulator. Firstly, the system does not come up i.e the UI does not come up. Secondly, when i "adb shell" into the system and run dalvikvm, i get a segmentation fault. When i check logcat, it prints a lot of messages saying that dvm initialization failed.

Is it possible to run android-platform compiled for ARMv7 on the emulator? I also see that the JIT compiler in dalvik gets enabled only for ARMv7. Is there some dependency of the JIT compiler on ARMv7?

No. There are bugs in the ARM QEMU implementation that prevent the
armv7-a target from working correctly.

I'm not sure what "it" refers to. If you want to use the emulator you
need to build for armv5te. If you have a droid, nexus one, or other
recent hardware you can build for armv7-a.

You should be able to enable the JIT for armv5te by tweaking the
dalvik makefile.
