Hi android-platform,
my android market does not work, it never did.

I have bought this epad:
www(dot)sinadeal(dot)com/item/product-122148/
with Android 2.2, imported from China (delays, customs etc)-:
First 4 days: Happy; lots of problems - but cool thing :-)

My current problem:
There is no "Android Market" APP in English or German, only
"AndAppStore" (approx 1000 apps) installed. I can also install from
pdassi, slideme and mobihand - but still, I have no access to the
original "Android Market".

When I open a URL like
market://search?q=pname%3Acom.google.android.apps.map
I get as answer
"You are not allowed to open this page" (Sie sind zum oeffnen dieser
Seite nicht berechtigt, in German)

There IS also a blue icon stylized shopping cart, subtitled as aMarket
- but that is completely in CHINESE characters.

(a)
How can I switch the latter to English/German???
I'd need a step by step manual, with all hanzi characters.

OR:

(b)
(How) Can I install the (english/german) "android market" APP?
By web? By USB?
I can connect the epad to my Apple Airbook, so I could perhaps
write new software onto the machine "from the outside".
But: How to do that?

(c)
What would I have to change in the WWW browser,
so that market:// begins to work well?

Please help!
Thanks a lot!

Guten Rutsch ins Neue Jahr!

I don't know anything about your device, but is its manufacturer an
official Android distributor? Applications like the Market are
Google's intellectual property and are not part of the open source
project. If the manufacturer of your device doesn't have an agreement
with Google, they can't legally put Google apps on the device. So you
may want to check that first.

.
WHAT ?
.
That really sucks.
.
So there might be 200,000 apps out there, but I can only get a tiny
fraction?
What a nasty interpretation of the concept of an open source operating
system!
.
What can I do now? I have spent a lot of money.
The device is already here in Europe, I paid postage AND customs duty
for it.
Sending it back does not make sense.
.
If I understand you correctly: Because the manufacturer might not be
an official Android distributor, that I am totally blocked out of the
"Android Market", forever, with that device?

That feels so wrong.

I bought the device, expecting 'open source' to be a reliable
criterion. Google is good?

Google should simply sell that MarketPlace app to me now.
I want to install it onto that device. I want access to those 200.000
apps.

Well, it's not all about you.  There are very clear requirements for being able to include the Market app, as spelled out in the CDD: http://source.android.com/compatibility/index.html

These are there to balance the needs of a variety of entities: developers to be able to rely on the platform their apps run in to behave consistently, users to have some confidence that apps they buy will work correctly, etc.

If you want to have Market on your device, you should talk with the manufacturer about passing the CDD so they can include it.  If they don't pass the CDD, it is not good for anyone that Market is there, since there will be who knows what problems with existing apps, causing undeserved bad ratings against the app and unhappiness from users.
