Can anyone enlighten me as to what the purpose of the gdk/ directory in
4.2 is? I can see it has something to do with the NDK and LLVM but
that's as far as I can see. I've tried looking at the git logs in gdk/
but even they don't reveal what the acronym stands for.

Any takers?

That was my guess too, but the more I look into it the more confusing it gets. Three things are generated from gdk/sources/llvm-ndk-cc/ for the *host*:
- llvm-ndk-cc
- llvm-ndk-link
- libndkpc
If I grep the rest of the AOSP, I can't find anything that uses any of these.

Also, most of the stuff generated in there is actually also in frameworks/compile/llvm-ndk-cc/.

Looks like experimental stuff in as far as I can see.

Try googling "llvm gdk". Let me know if you find any non-aosp related hits on the first page ;)

Yes, I had seen that, thanks for posting the pointer. It's probably just
above my head but even with that presentation it's unclear what GDK
specifically does. And we still don't know what the acronym stands for.

It is probably Google Development Kit, Looking at it, they are building a LLVM Compiler to replace the GCC compiler used in the NDK
