Hi all,

Reading news about Android on different web site, I'm a little bit
confused. Sometimes I can read that the next version will be deployed
on device is Android 2.1. Sometimes is 2.0.1. The last version
provided by Android is the 2.0.1 and it's the version recommanded by
Google Android.

So, do you have the good answer : the next version for devices
(existing devices) will be 2.1 or 2.0.1 ?

As far as I can tell at the moment (having dissected the only supposed 2.1 build leak) that supposed 2.1 is actually htc's internal name for the incomplete testing build, not an android version. The build itself seems to be still based on 2.0. 2.0.1 from motorola, I'm not sure about, I think it's also their own internal naming for corrections to the 2.0 platform.

Also, note that the 2.0 code is currently only available to manufacturers in complete form, though the 2.0.1 sdk is already available to developers. The aosp code in both eclair and master from 2.0 corresponds to a code-base newer than the original droid's but older than the 2.0.1 sdk

Last I heard it was a month or more -older- than the original droid firmware, actually.

Where'd you hear that? Dianne Hackborn said on this list not long ago:

"the current Eclair [AOSP] branch is a snapshot of development after
2.0, before the next release."
