Hi, I am very new at this so assume I know nothing. I am trying to
follow the steps in Initializing a Build Environment located here:

http://source.android.com/source/initializing.html

Following the steps for Installing the JDK this command:

sudo add-apt-repository "deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu
lucid partner"

Causes this error:

Error: 'deb-src http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu lucid partner'
invalid

So how do I get around this? Thanks in advance!

Mark

I had the same issue, seems the instructions are outdated.

For Ubuntu 11.04 the workaround I used was to edit /etc/apt/sources.list and uncomment the two lines near the bottom referring to partner repositories. The rest of the installation for JDK worked fine after this.

Hi, Leigh:
Is it possible to post your correct edit /etc/apt/sources.list
file?
I tried "uncomment the two lines near the bottom referring to partner
repositories"
as you suggested, it still come out with same error.

Thanks
Michael
