Also be nice to have it work with a network password enabled for growl on
OSX.

I agree that if the application is going to use network notifications, it
really needs to some form of authentication.
Out of interest, why can the notifier not register as a local app with
Growl?
Using Growl for Windows here.
what is tray icon? where do you find Growl Notification Transport Protocol
There isn't a tray icon for growl it's just found in my MacOSX System
Preferences, how do i find the Growl Notification Transport Protocol?
What is AND?
I did not get the AND part either!
this app needs to work over 3g
Why would someone on Mac want to use AND instead of MDN? For me, MDN "just
works", while AND did not work, is not able to setup "start up login" (it
instructs me to use accounts prefpane instead).
As version might tell, is AND superseding MDN?
This page was exactly what I needed to get Growl to work with AND on my PC.
Thanks.
AND does not show in tray. Either won't "run" or just no icon.
Can you tell me what process names to look for to determine if it's
running. Does not show in Task Manager Applications list either. Running
Windows XP Pro.
where do you find Growl Notification Transport Protocol? I don't see it in
either the AND or Growl Preferences?
IT does not work with current version of Growl and Windows 7 - unsure as to
why.. but desktop app doesnt recognize growl running.
How to disable message popups from AND program and only show Growl popups?
uncheck the preference in AND to disable message popups other than growl --
uncheck "system default"
I followed the instructions here, but I still cannot get it to work/show up
in Growl. I upgraded to OSX Lion though, and I wonder if that has anything
to do with it. The system default works fine but I like Growl so much
more. Any ideas?
This doesn't work on OSX lion/growl 1.3. Please add support for this.
+1 to wouter.henderickx's comment; I downloaded Growl 1.3 via the App Store
and MacDroidNotifier no longer works.
Doesn't work etiher as of today with the lastest version of Growl / AND /
OSX.
can confirm app downloaded via apple app store does not work on lion with
android notifier despite trying the above feeling a bit robbed by growl
If you download the older MacDroidNotifier you can actually get it working
by running Growl Version Detective, available at
http://growl.info/downloads and replacing the Growl 1.2 framework in there
with the Growl 1.3.1 framework. MacDroidNotifier will complain the first
time that it receives a notification that Growl isn't running, but will
display the notification anyway, after which the error dialog won't be
shown again (as noted in the error dialog itself).
The newer Android Notifier uses GNTP to communicate with Growl, with is
the "proper" way to do it going forward, since Growl 1.3 will need to run
in Apple's new sandbox system. As I understand it from reading other
threads on GNTP in Growl 1.3.x, there is presently an issue with
non-authenticated GNTP communications (i.e. those that don't include a
password). Growl 1.4 is supposed to fix this, but Android Notifier could
probably also do so by simply allowing the user to specify a password for
the GNTP connection between Growl 1.3.x and Android Notifier.
That actually worked! Thanks a lot!
Ok that worked when I followed every step without thinking why! Thanks.
