It took awhile, but I finally got the list updated. The Top 5 entries
were based on our nominations and internal polling. I narrowed the
list down to 25 categories by elimination several which did not
pertain to Android apps or they were overlapping.

I also removed any of the default apps or ones made by Google. I feel
we should leave Google apps out of the competition, but this is open
for debate.

Please look over the list at the link below and share your thoughts.
Let us know of any errors we may have made or ways we can improve the
list.

I think this information is ok to share with your readers so we can
get feedback on any issues we might need to address before the final
voting begins. If you post any of this list make sure you say the
"information is subject to change".

After everyone reviews the list of the final 25, we can discuss the
time frame for starting voting.

The central site will go up when we agree upon the categories and
final dates. We did not want to publish anything sooner for fear of
confusion.

Where did the best camera app category go??! Cameras are one of the
first apps that people use on their phone and Android has 2 or 3 very
strong camera applications, arguably some of the best apps across the
platform.

I believe this category should definitely be reinstated even if it
means having 26 categories.

I can think of at least 6 cams if this helps: Snap Photo, Camera Zoom,
PanoPhoto, Camera Pro, Quick Camera, AndCam3D

As one of these is a top 10 paid app and another in the top 20, their
popularity alone should justify their inclusion in this contest.

I am glad that you added Nav4All which is free and is pretty decent
navigation app. Cant wait to announce the start of voting. :)

Looks good. I like the decision to pull Google apps out... they are
all great and could skew the winners. I'll make posts on twitter with
the nominees.

Unless there is something strange or glaring, I think we are good to
make our individual and collective announcements Monday. Vote for a
week and announce winners.

Anyone object?

I think this list is good. There's two typos, though.

Entertainment - there's only 1 'z' in Shazam
Shopping - app is Key Ring

I fixed the two typos.  Thanks for pointing them out.

I think Monday might be a little rushed to begin.  It would be nice to have more time to build up the hype for voting.

What about Wednesday August 5th or Monday August 10th?

I think it might be good to announce the official categories and entrants on Monday then open the voting on Wednesday. That way any devs who were nominated will have some time to make a post or get their plans together before the votes go live. I think it would be nice to give them a few days before we unleash the polls to the public.

We could aim to have the central site live by Monday the 3rd, but wait
a week to begin voting. This would allow us to contact all 125
entries and notify them about the awards. The more attention we get,
the better.

Which sites are actually confirmed to participate in the awards? We
have contributed our posts, I took the time to vote for the
nominations and to contribute here in the Google Group, but still
don't see our site (http://www.androidplanet.nl, Planet Android)
listed on the Google Group opening page (http://groups.google.com/
group/android-network-awards?hl=en). Several other good contributors
are missing as well Could you please also take the time to update the
list so it's clear who are running/participating in the ANA.

Kind regards,

Things look good for me. I'll put together a blog post over the weekend and just wait for the green light to post it.

Jean-Paul, sorry your site was not on the front page.  It has been added.
