First off, I want to thank everyone who joined up and showed their
support. I apologize that we slacked and missed some of our dates,
but we are moving again and almost ready to finish this up.

We need everyone's help to finalize the top 5 entries in each
category. I have created polls so that we can vote internally. Each
poll is multiple choice and you can also vote "other" if you want to
suggest an app not on the list. I know limiting the choices to 5 will
leave off some apps, but that's the magic number we picked.

Please keep these polls private and do not post them on your website.
They are meant for internal polling only. Each poll will expire after
3 days. We will check the results at the end of the time period and
use that to select the final 5 entries.

Also, some of the categories were split based on the nominations. I
created a separate category for GPS turn-by-turn driving apps. We
also split tools into "system utility apps" and "tool apps". If any
apps are in the wrong category, let us know and we will fix it.

Finally, I suggest we remove several categories that do not pertain to
an app. This is required to limit the number of categories down. I
have updated the category page to suggest which categories need to be
removed.

To view the current category suggestions please see -
http://groups.google.com/group/android-network-awards/web/category-suggestions

Below are the links to all the polls to narrow down the categories.
I'm posting them in this discussion but they might also go on another
page in this google group.

To clarify the polls - you can vote for multiple apps in each
category. Just vote for the apps you think are the best and deserve
to be in the final 5. If there are categories you don't know any of
the apps, just don't vote. Any other questions, please reply to this
discussion.

Entered my votes, glad to see it moving along. I know you mentioned it above but I figured it can't hurt to have it in multiple emails:

Hi All,
am concerned that in the event that anyone else is monitoring this
group, the links could be manipulated. - Anyway I voted!

Lets look forward to getting it going.

Thank you to everyone who voted so far. This is going to be a big
help in finalizing all the categories and entries.

When we get the final list this week, we will update the http://androidawards.com
site with the information. Then we can begin to share that URL for
the public to vote on the awards and share the embed codes for other
sites and developers.

If you have not voted yet, please set aside some time in the next day
to help us out.

Good job. I voted.
Just one comment: final polls for public use should include links to
descriptions of applications so users would instantly know what are
they about. It is hard to remember so many apps as Android offer. Even
if you try them, you forget it after a period of time.

Just checked the polls and it appears about 10 people have voted so
far. We got about 50 members in this group so I'll wait another day
for everyone to weigh in. Thanks again.

Seto, I plan to include the app icon in the final polls. I'll look
into adding links.

Just put in my votes. It's tough keeping up with everythign since I
can't access the Google Group from my work since they have firewalls
that block 99.9% of the entire internet.

Thanks, I finished my vote.

Some things I noticed:
- Is this Google Group set to "Private"? Otherwise, people who stumble
across the site may sway the vote.
- In the Best Widget category, we misspelled "Twidgit Lite"

Voted in almost all the categories. I left out Finance / Card Casino
Games (and maybe some others) and have added some missing apps to the
relevant category (e.g. Tweakers Pricewatch Scanner (Dutch) in
Shopping).
I'd like to echo Seto's statement about the description and would
like
to add to provide a QR code as well. If you use WordPress for the ANA
website I'm happy to provide my custom function for this which makes
this really easy. See this article for an example:

When we're down to the final list we'd be more than happy to create unique sections on AndAppStore for downloading the contenders in each category. It would, however, need the apps to be listed on AndAppStore of course, but if the developers are OK with that it could be an good way to get users focused on trying out the apps.

Al.

P.S. Thanks for keeping voting open, the joys of 15 hours travelling meant yesterday gave me very little time yesterday.
