Seems we're missing some dates and filtering goals to keep the awards on track. Public voting is projected for Monday 8/3, but we haven't completed the category nominees.

My last impression was that all the current categories and nominees would be placed into polls for internal voting for a few days, the top 5 would be the final nominees. Also, central message on www.androidawards.com. Where are we with this?

If we run internal polls on the categories for 48 hours, we could narrow to 5 each.  We can then trim off the other categories that don't have 5 total - unless someone knows a last minute entry.

But we can have this done and complete by Thursday evening.  Make an announcement - send people to the ANA page with the list of nominees.  Open voting up on the 3rd.

We can still hit it, but we gotta move.  Was someone particular going to do the internal polls?

I can help populate but don't have access to the polls

Who's responsible for setting up the internal polls (a.k.a. who has
the permissions to set things up) and do they need help getting things
online? Also what's a reasonable time to expect the internal polls to
be online?

I'm here, so I think that if we move fast, we still can do it for the
3rd.

(seems that lot of site join only for visibility. Am I wrong?)

When you have a large collaboration like this with "too many cooks" in the
kitchen just like meetings, you rarely get any takeaways - and things slip
like it is now.

I nominate Scott of AndroidGuys or Taylor of AndroidandMe to ringlead and
set a decisive agenda on who needs to do what and by when.

If they don't want to & if the network is looking for someone to do this
then I could fill that gap which the following high level items would need
to happen by Wednesday July 29th:

- I believe the polls can be resolved by Taylor & Clark at AndroidandMe.

- Antonio of AndroidTapp can populate the polls.

- I can come up with the marketing message

- Then I believe Taylor & Clark own the androidnetworksawards.com site so
can then push content and how to distribute & finalize the polls once the
above is done.

Sounds like a good plan to me. I've been staying quiet to avoid the too many cooks problem, and I suspect many, like myself, are waiting for something we can help with before jumping in.

Same with me (Chief Editor Android-OS.de) - most pages probably are
ready for doing any marketing effort to make the final polls visible
to their readers and thus successful. What's needed in my opinion is
someone managing the organisation of all preparations essential to the
start of the final polls (maybe exactly the way Michael described it).
If there is help needed, specific requests (like writing to local
major technology publications, doing some graphical stuff, etc) by a
small organisation team would be quite helpful and probably the best
way to avoid the too many cooks problem.

I like Scott's idea.  I can create internal polls for all categories with over 5 nominations.  I will make the polls multiple choice so you can select several apps.  We will take the top 5 apps with the most votes and make those the official entries.  When the final polls go up, we can still include an "other..." option if people want to write in a vote.

If we get the internal polls up today, is everyone ok with the 48hr voting period that was suggested?  This would mean we should have the final categories with entries ready by Thursday.

Let's roll! We'll make an announcement here in the group... "If you want to finalize the list of nominees and vote, you have 48 hours."

As soon as it's ready, I'll put out the Google Group notice.  "If you have a favorite app that you want to see make it through to the public vote, this is your chance."
