arm-linux-androideabi-readelf -A says that it has exactly the same architecture attributes as the libgnustl_shared.so in ../armeabi. Is this intentional?

I don't think it is. Briefly looking, this looks like a bug in the build script I wrote. Can you file a bug on b.android.com about this?
Just to be clear, this shouldn't be a matter of correctness, i.e. you should be able to use the library properly on all armeabi-v7a devices.
