After studio downloads the ndk is installed, where is its directory? How do locate it on a Mac?

It is now bundled with the SDK i.e., you find the NDK in a folder named ndk-bundle in your SDK folder. For example, on my computer it is /usr/local/Cellar/android-sdk/24.4.1/ndk-bundle. The file source.properties can give you a hint on which NDK version which has been installed.

Go to File -> Project Structure. In the Project Structure window, select the option from the left side panel "SDK Location". There you can see the full path for the NDK installation.
