Looking for a VideoView guru

I'm looking for someone that could help me with a problem regarding Android's VideoView. Currently my VideoView stops as soon as it's detached from its parent. I probably need to implement my own video player. But that's beyond my skill. Anybody with knowledge or experience with OpenGL and FFMPEG please contact me.
