So far I'm pleased with the keyboard and speed of the Nexus 4 (not to mention the price) but I'd like to know what people who are in on the secret knowledge of Android uses for the following tasks:

- flashlight
- to listen and keep track of podcasts
- ebook readers
- todo list
- other things you think I should check out

Your help transitioning would be greatly appreciated.

Gary

For todo lists, consider SimpleTask (based on Gina Trapani's todo.txt)

Hi Gary, congrats on your new phone!  It'll serve you well, I still love the Galaxy Nexus I've been using since Dec 2011

Flashlight:  I purchased "HD Widgets", it has a fantastic flashlight widget.
Podcasts:  Can't help ya there, but if you're interested in streaming MP3s using Winamp's good ol' ShoutCast, XiiaLive Lite does the job nicely.
eBook readers:  Aldiko, and Moon+ Reader are the ones I use
Todo list:  Google just came out with "Keep", which integrates with your Google Drive account to store notes.  Start with drive.google.com/keep/ and download the app

Another great app to help ya get started:  ES File Explorer.  Browses your local file system, easily connects to other computers on your LAN.  It even has its own built in media players, these days I use it to stream my MP3 collection from my laptop over wifi while working in the kitchen.  :)

Good luck,
Graeme C

The best app I have on my phone by far is DashClock, the look and feel is similar to android digital clock. It's a widget that you can add on your lock screen and on it you can add extensions to see them directly from your lock screen (weather, calendar events, missed calls, emails, flashlight, alarm and more). The flashlight it can extend is DashLight which also works without DashClock.

For todo list, if you use gmail task then there are two good apps that sync with your list Task free (which can also be added to DashClock) or Tasks, which you have to put as a widget on one of your screens to use it.
