Is there any work being done between this group and the App Inventor group? I would love to have MIDI in app inventor to create music education apps. I hacked together an app that teaches SolFa showing the notes and hand symbols by loading ,mid files of each note (lots of .mid files for guitar, piano and flute 4 octaves) but that really is pathetic. MIDI could be big for App Inventor but so far my requests for anybody interested in making an extension have not had any response except to point to how to do it with "real" development tools. I also use App Inventor and ESP32 with bluetooth and wIfi for my local Arduin/Pi IoT group so I'm interested in helping a community that is new to programming. If AI had a MIDI extension all these pieces would become accessible to a lot of kids who are already using these tools in their STEM programs.

Hello Larry,
I am not familiar with App Inventor. But it sounds like it might benefit from some MIDI support.
You could make this suggestion to the App Inventor folks. Adding MIDI support is up to them.
Thanks,
Phil Burk

I did go as far as I could nagging them and was a tad annoying too. Hard to believe an "education" app does not get what MIDI can do. Thank you for the work you are doing. They actually said I was the only one asking for MIDI but then I see MIDI apps with millions of downloads for a keyboard app and many millions more for other apps. It looks like it might be possible to write an extension so I installed Android Studio and have begun to see what I can figure out. It's a shame because the ESP32 we are using has so much potential for MIDI over BLE. If robots could sing SolFa it could go a long way to making music education a lot more pervasive. MIDI is the piece I am missing now.
