I'm a user and new to the Android OS. In the past I've used an iPod to listen to my audio books with my recent purchase of a Samsung Galaxy S3 I've switch to listening to MP3 books on the phone but I've discovered that it is no where near as good as it is on the iPod and hopefully there are solutions. I've tested several Audiobook players and they all fall short for different reasons. Per the settings in my phone I'm running Android 4.0.4, kernel v3.0.8-1092716 following are some of the issues I've encountered. It is my understanding that most of the issues are as a result of the Android OS.
  1. When using an audiobook player I expect to see only my audiobooks and not the music or any other media files. Some apps mix them together and others do separate them.
  2. When a book completes the next book should automatically start. In my testing I did find one application that did this.
  3. When I pause or the GPS interrupts to give directions I don't want the player to auto-rewind. Some applications offered to turn this off but the setting did not turn it off. All of the applications I tested did not turn off the auto-rewind
  4. Playback at faster speed. Some applications stated that they support this but for the most part they failed. For me this is an important feature that I always used on my iPod.
  5. Not all applications work effectively with my Bluetooth LG HBS-700 headset.
  6. Often the playback will stutter at different times.
