Hi,

I have motorola xt502 (commtiva z71 variant) phone,running CM7.
Ive tried few commands that seem to change the mac-address on some devices like nexus*.
but those commands arent working on my device.
Ive read somewhere that the kernel has to be modified for the mac spoofing to work.. any help to get me started to achieve this spoofing?
Thanks.

Android version ifconfig do not have hw command. You might need to
update ifconfig and add this command. Anyway, the lower layer is
Linux, it should work.

The only way ive found to work is chroot into an ubuntu or debian image and apt-get macspoofer...it works with both wireless/gsm on my g2. Dont know bout nexus though :/

For ease of use, check out backtrack's ARM image (you do need root for this, btw) at backtrack-linux.com. its a rather involved process that basially installs a full linux distro onto a partion on your sdcard. you might want to check out the  macspoofer source and see if you cant cross-compile with ndk, though I imagine the lack of the libc6 library will cause some problems. I cant get into more detail atm, but if you message me later I can provide some more details if youd like

But shouldn't using the busybox's ifconfig (in case android's ifconfig
doesn't support the command) - be easier ?
