Hi.

I have a some board, using samsung s5pv210.

when Android is booting(on NAND), servicemanager is die.

so, I should try to boot, gdb debugging via NFS booting.

However, when booting form NFS, other problems will occur.

that is. KERNEL - PANIC.....

so. I want to trace android ,kernel booting mecanism using gdb or
strace.

how can i do?

and how can I solve this problem?

NFS always problem......

(kernel source was provided Board company. Android source too.)

But I want to build, through Google.Reference source.

when booting from Board company source, that is good operating.

but my gingerbread source is trouble.

i think it is kernel problem. but only android source changed.

THIS IS MY NFS BOOTING MESSAGE.

Hi!

init: cannot open '/initlogo.rle'
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!

This means that kernel has booted up and the first userspace process (init) has been called. But for whatever reasons init process couldn't handle required resource (/initlogo.rle), so signal for termination was sent to init process. Kernel don't know what to do without any process, so it falls into panic.
I suggest checking your rootfs. May be you need another one...

Best wishes,
Vladimir Murzin

Sorry, I didn't understand your problem.

If your problem is

when Android is booting(on NAND), servicemanager is die.

Try to enable binder on ur kernel, Android service manger requires binder driver in kernel.

Jagan.

Hi

I cannot find any thing wrong but this.
Freeing init memory: 156K
init: cannot open '/initlogo.rle'
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Rebooting in 5 seconds..▒▒▒▒▒▒OK

The kernel source is all the same, the only different is android source code, is it right?
Please check the android source code's init.rc file.
You can check the different of android source code's system/core/rootdir and /device/xxx/ about your board code.

Thanks

I have faced this problems some days ago.

In my case the problem was the VMSPLIT2G and VMSPLIT3G kernel configuration. I had some precompiled libraries with VMSPLIT3G but my kernel was built with VMSPLIT2G.

By changing it my problem was solved. Please check this link (it is not in French don't "worry/panic"): http://ftpb.free.fr/vb/showthread.php?p=6

Tinti

Hi,

If you modify init.xxx.rc to let it don't mount /system etc,  like below.

on fs
# mount ext4 partitions
    mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system
    mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 /system ro remount
    mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p7 /data nosuid nodev nodiratime noatime noauto_da_alloc
    mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6 /cache nosuid nodev
    mount ext4 /dev/block/mmcblk0p8 /vendor nosuid nodev

you should also delete "on fs" too, if the "on fs" without any command, the init process will meet segment fault, so the init will kill him self.

Best regards,
Zhang Jiejing

The problem can also be on the server side (in most cases it is).
Did you check the firewall running on the server?
