"font" resource folder invalid

to AIDE - Android Java IDE
in support library 26 they've added a font folder to define font families. AIDE gives invalid resource folder when i create font folder in res folder.
what is the problem, is the "font" folder not yet supported?

a year and a half and no answer. this this could not be called a 'community.'
