Hello devs !
I just wanted to bring to your attention the Java implementation of
SMIL within the X-Smiles browser project. I'm not sure how much could
be re-used in the Android reader/player without introducing
unnecessary layers of complexity, but there is certainly some re-
usable code there:

Dan,
Thank you for the links and the suggestion. We appreciate your input
which will hopefully help us to develop a useful and robust
application.

Jiayao and I have both looked at the x-smiles project independently
and reached similar conclusions - that we currently only intend to
support a small subset of the set of SMIL elements (those we've
discovered in sample DAISY and epub books). Therefore we're coding
support for these elements directly rather than reusing code from x-
smiles. Our current (as yet incomplete) implementation is here

This waws a good project at the time --- it built support for a
bunch of xml technologies including SMIL at the time. It was
focused on the desktop though; not sure what the footprint hit
would be.
