Hi all,

I put a daisy book onto the phone's SD card, but when I browse for it with the daisy player, I only find the folders on the card, not the book, which is in the root directory.

The book is _Fanny Hill_ from Munseys. I downloaded it as a daisy file. the file name was "fhill.xml," but I renamed it to "Fanny Hill.xml." I had no problem copying it to the SD card, and I have no problem finding it with Astro File Manager.

But when I try browsing with the Daisy reader, I can't find it. I've browsed by pressing the selector on the Open button; when I do, I get a list of the folders on the SD card, but not the file. I've also tried pressing the selector on the Search for Books button; when I do, nothing seems to happen. I've tried touching the screen after pressing Search for Books in case I need to scroll that way, but nothing happens then either.

When I use Astro, I can navigate to the file, and when I press the selector, I get an Android system screen that offers the Moon Reader and two file editors.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Ciao

Ana,
Is this a DAISY 2.02 format book? (The software is still limited to
the older version of the books).

Hmm, the format listed for the book is daisy dtb. Does dtb suggest a
specific daisy version? I'm not finding an FAQ for Munseys to get that
information.

Ana,
The book is in the DAISY 3.0 format. My player plays the older format, known as DAISY 2.02. DAISY 2.02 is still the main version used in Europe (where I live). DAISY 3.0 seems to be more common in the USA, and the site you're using seems to be American, hence the problem. I think http://www.once.es/new provides DAISY books in the older format.

My program is also limited to playing the 'full audio' DAISY books, it doesn't use voice synthesis or the Android Text-to-speech library yet.

I downloaded some initial (boring) sample books from the main daisy.org web site. I use these, and some other books I've received from various people, to test the software.
