AirDroid: Android’s Best Webtop Application
If you haven’t heard of this 100% free application on Google Play, you’re in for a surprise. This application – without a doubt – is the most useful application on the market for both the average consumer and the Android geeks.
AirDroid is a Wifi-based application which allows you to control several aspects of your device from your computer browser. By several, I mean: file transfer, SMS, apps, photos, clipboard, contacts, video, ringtones, and music. In this free application, you can access, change, upload, or download those file types WITHOUT needing to root your device. The usefulness of this device is endless. You can easily tweak your ringtone without having to search in system settings, create contacts without opening it up on your phone and, finally, install applications using the APK file.

While file transfer(music, video) may not be that unique, the ability to install applications from your computer to your phone through WIFI is extremely convenient. For those who don’t know, an APK file is the app file which you can use to install an app onto your phone. Sometimes, APKs are useful in getting around policies, since there are random APK files that can be found on the net. Normally, if you were to install an application using an APK file, you would need to download the file, transfer the file to your SDcard/Storage device, open your file browser on your device and install the application. If you use Airdroid, you only need to download the file, open it on the Webtop application and click install app. As long as your device is connected, Airdroid will automatically send the APK onto your phone and prompt you to install the application.

As seen in the video, the user interface of the browser is simplistic and functional. Another great function of Airdroid is also reviewed in the video: the ability to send,create or delete SMS through Airdroid. If you want to reply, you can use your computer keyboard and easily type away. It makes typing long messages a lot faster, and you can also receive texts on Airdroid. It is comparable to the raved iMessage that are to be on future Apple computers, except for Airdroid, the device needs to be connected via wifi in order to work.
