Hi,

I'm novice in Android so can anybody tell me is Android's API include
some remote procedure calls to this service? I had look at the google's
database an year ago or something, I did not see any possibilities to
use this service other than web browser.

I mean in some projects it can be helpful getting access to the database
shared with others.
If there is no API for this can I participate for this project ;) or if
anybody have access to the db docs?

Hi Andrei,

Are you talking about the "Google Base data API" ( http://code.google.com/apis/base/
) ?

If yes, then I'd be very interested to include this in our project:

http://code.google.com/p/openintents/

One could define e.g. a ContentProvider that would be easily
accessible by all Android applications. Also, abstracting this service
(and not let every application perform authentication and the HTTP
requests by themselves) could have additional benefits, like
transparently performing offline search in cached results if no
network is available or searching through other databases installed
directly on the phone.

If you are interested, write me an email, and I'll join you to this
project!

See you there,
Peli

Yes, I see this way. But before if I override content provider first we
must consider which standard is suitable, like soap, xml-rpc or "G-db" ;).

I think there is only one way if you want to connect to Google, and
that is to use their GData ( http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/overview.html
).

It would definitely be worth the effort to
encapsulate this into a content provider, so let's continue to
discuss
this on our project page http://code.google.com/p/openintents/

I would like to join your openIntents project. I'm thinking of writing
a contentProvider that associates GPs coordinates with human-readable
strings. With this content provider, every application can know where
your home is, where you work, etc... or course there will be
permissions for security to stop unwanted applications from accessing
your locations.

Great! I added you to the project. Welcome on board. Let's continue
the discussion on the project wiki (at http://code.google.com/p/openintents/
) and in our project group ( http://groups.google.com/group/openintents
)
