THE PSYCHODROID

MAY 09 2008. EXT. MARY'S OFFICE - (DAY)

The Phone rings. Mary picks up the phone and listens. We see
Mary's face lighting up. Mary couldn't stop grinning. She had
heard some great news. She throws in some kisses on the phone,
pumps her fist and looks for something in her drawer. Mary takes
her bankbook out and gets out fast laughing. We can only feel
she has won the lottery. In fact she has won the Google Android Developer Challenge Phase I that was announced today. What poor Mary doesn't know is, how this would be fatal for her.

weird, twisted, disturbing, yet etertaining in an odd sort of way.

I'm going to have to agree with the weird and twisted part and add to
it disturbing. Entertaining? Not so much.

Muthu should have mentioned that the "Mary" in the story has nothing
to do with any real person he may have collaborated with :-)
If you abstract from that, the story is not so bad, though not very
original either, as mentioned in the end.

PS: Forgive Muthu, he surely suffers from the Indian heat and his

I would also add scary. Somehow my heart was pumping hard with
aprehension when the bad scary android was about to slash its way to
the shower curtain. Or maybe it was just my sleep starved brain acting
up.

Exactly. Mary is the character name from the original script. I copied and paste. Any real persons with the name 'Mary' please accept my apologies!

I have graduated from NYFA.. If this can clear some of the confusions. All my drama  comes from my movie background. So relax, butter your popcorn and bite into the action!

Now you all know why my articles rock!

Peli,

I woke up this morning with one nerve left, and Muthu got on it. I am
fairly certain I am the only one with a name resembling Mary who
entered the Challenge, and I happen to be Muthu's partner.

> If you abstract from that, the story is not so bad, though not very

Agreed- it is not so offensive if in that context, however it remains
stupid.
But admittedly, this is coming from someone who appreciates the
cinematic importance of films like Psycho, but has
never been much of a fan of the ever-popular innocent unsuspecting
woman being victimized genre in general.

Yes, Muthu surely suffers from the heat. I even know for a fact the AC
in his office broke recently. I would, myself like to suggest that
Muthu take some of his own advice (and Peli's among others) and relax.
Drink enough of those Bloody Marys that you lose track of your
keyboard for a little while. I think I speak for at least a few of us
when I say "We love you, Man. And you are entertaining sometimes. But
smaller doses please."

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I appreciate your feedback. False announcement of judging delays? If you can point the source, I will only be glad to explain you or clarify my position.

You are welcome.

I felt that it was pretty clear that the judging would be complete at the end of this week (the week of May 5th). In fact, a poster even highlighted this fact a week ago.

Your "BREAKING" news thread wasn't "news", let alone "breaking"; it was just another plug to your website -- a particularly insidious one.

I feel ashamed for even paying attention to this thread now...

Hello buddies,
This is my first writing after long observation since the start of
ADC.
Because mine is purely simple stand-alone utility, there has been no
way for me to get hints about my submission is still alive or not.
The only indirect probing is through the sighs and laughs of people in
this board.
Muthu's articles were, in some way, aggressive but I enjoyed his or
hers.
I want to express my gratitude for all members of this great community
including Muthu.
Everybody, take care whether win or not.

Muthu, you desperately need to go outside and do something other than
spend all day posting about Google Android. You're writing disturbing
slasher fiction, snapping at people, and taking things way, way too
seriously. Your posts have transitioned from the odd to the downright
creepy, so I urge you to take a break from everything and come back
with a fresh set of eyes in a few days. You're really weirding us out,
dude.

Greg,

Thanks for your concern. I urge you to stay in vacation just like you have been doing until now. You are really creeping us out when you suddenly wake up from your sleep and start posting stuff just for the sake of it. Enjoy your rest, dude. Or if you feel like contributing to Android try posting something useful.

I think my "break from vacation" should serve to remind you that there
are many, many more lurkers than posters in these groups. (Many of
whom probably come from various companies involved in Android's
development.) We all, after all, have just this outlet to see any
official news from Google about the ADC or Android in general. As such
I think you should re-consider posting things that some might find at
best off putting at worst incredibly disturbing, such as graphic
stories about someone getting murdered after hearing their success in
the ADC.

Just so you guys don't take it so seriously, I think there was a humor
part to the story. i.e. "Android is killing me!" as the expression
goes.

Muthu's enthusiasm for Android is what drew me to partner with him for
the Challenge, and I am glad I have.

Yes, he is an over-poster with a knack for mellow drama, and is being
met with some cold reception from a captive, nerve-frayed audience.
And he has added a great deal of color (sometimes off-color) with his
prolific commentary, stories, and dramatic updates.

I would like to second Cow Bay's assertion that it is indeed (often)
fun, but exhaustion and the need for peace and rest have set in for
most of us.

Let's give Muthu some peace too. He gets carried away. He means well.

He is nice, he is my friend, he has been a pleasure to work with, and
he is just excited and nervous like the rest of us.

I know I have contributed some less than good myself, but lets now
focus on the good, as we all have common goals.

Peace out and Good Luck to All,
-mac
