That's a tiny bit surprising, I don't see the same issues in my own testing. It's possible that the retail N4 build is using a different set of APNs that's not in AOSP. I'll have to double-check that.

If you find that the specific APN info for your carrier is missing from the AOSP APN list, contributions are very welcome.

I have observed that retail factory build automatically acquires the GPRS connection settings (2G/3G) where as in AOSP i have to manually enter configuration.

is there something missing in AOSP.

I have not done any change in source just did a repo sync, source build/envsetup.sh, make -j8 otapackage

Hi,
Thanks for the quick response.
My ISP is Airtel India.

If you can point me to the file which stores the APN values i would love to contribute them in.
Note : I am just trying to get hold of whole diretory structure hence no idea about the file location, is there a chart of place where i can get some quick references for files in source tree, except opening each one.

the file indeed contains the APN value. is there any other way to check if something went wrong and system was not able to load APN properly besides APN everything else seems to be working just fine.

Can you check the apns version of the file?

line 22: <apns version="x">

it should be 8 if you are building an up to date master. If it's 7 you should change it to 8 or update your repo.

Sorry it took me some time to dig this information out. The retail builds of Nexus 4 use the same device/sample/etc/apns-full-conf.xml file as AOSP builds, so the difference that your are observing can't be explained by a different APN list.

Are you using master or 4.2.2? There's been some work in the telephony stack in master such that it's probably not as stable as in 4.2.2. (That's actually a true statement for the whole source tree, but it's especially true for telephony).

Hi JBQ,

I am using master at this point. Looks like my understanding was incorrect. what i understood was master will generally be a replica of latest public release or a version behind. development will happen internally and final release will be pushed to public.
Looks like i might have to change my pointer then.
And yes i did checked the apn list is version 8 and sources are up to date. will do a recompile this weekend and will check again.

The branching scheme is an area of the documentation that I need to clarify. At this point master is approximately 10 months ahead of 4.2.2 IIRC (they split off in late July last year).
