Thanks for the great paper and links on how to assemble an android-based UGV.

Is there a ROS connection somewhere? It wasn't described in the paper, and I didn't see anything ROS in the source code I scanned. Or is this a "future possibiliites" kind of discussion group?

I haven't used ROS myself but I created this topic if people were interested in using ROS for ABR.

You can have a look at the wheelphone. They use ROS for certain things.

not that I'm aware of.

Personally, I don't use ROS. 

I use the IOIO library, the Android API, and OpenCV. You can already do a lot of things quite easily with these.

But people already familiar with ROS might find it easier to keep using it on Android.

I have not found anything else that is an alternative for ROS on Android.  perhaps its time to create one.
