The Andover Township Police Department arrested Ariel S. Yanez, age 28 of Jersey City following an investigation into the burglary and theft from Simon Peter Sport Shop.  Police had been alerted to an activated alarm at the Simon Peter Sport Shop located off of Route 206.  The first arriving officer had located a bicycle in close proximity to the building and further investigation later revealed an unknown actor had made entry into the business via a window in the rear of the establishment.  The owner was contacted and responded and it was determined firearms had been removed from the business.  

A search of the immediate area was conducted with the assistance of the the New Jersey State Police, Byram Township Police, Maywood Police K9 and Sussex County Sheriff's Department K9.  During the search for the actor, two rifles were located laying on the ground just off the shoulder portion of the roadway along Route 206.  The rifles were later confirmed to have been stolen proceeds from Simon Peter.  

Follow up investigation was conducted which led to the arrest of Yanez on June 23, 2020.  Yanez was charged with burglary, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools.  He was lodged at the Morris County Correctional Facility.
