Open positions for:
2 PhD Students
The successful applicants are expected to contribute to the SNF research project “Towards a novel mobility regime? The legacies of the COVID-19 pandemic regarding the governance of human movement” and complete a doctoral dissertation under the supervision of one of the project leaders
(Prof. Christin Achermann, Prof. Janine Dahinden, Prof. Francisco Klauser).
The preferred start date is 1 June 2022 (or as agreed upon). The funding of the contracts is limited to 31 May 2026.

Requirements:
– You have completed a Master degree in one of the social sciences (preferably Social Anthropology, Political Geography, Sociology, Gender Studies) or in Mobility / Migration / Border / CRT Studies.
– You have to-date not, or only recently (not more than twelve months), enrolled as a doctoral candidate at a Swiss University.
– Excellent knowledge of qualitative methods and in particular ethnographic fieldwork.
– Excellent written and oral command of English and good knowledge of German and French.
– Scientific interest in reflexive migration, mobility, border and regime studies, and in processes of exclusion.
– Interest in collaborations with other nccr – on the move members.
– Participation in an interdisciplinary doctoral program coordinated by the nccr – on the move.
– Regular attendance of events at the University of Neuchatel, particularly at the MAPS, as well as participation in international scientific networks.
