Hello, I got the notification that my version would be out of service. I paused updates since there are always bugs, but then let the update go through. It totally messed up my acer laptop (Aspire E5-574) and my computer kept restarting and logging into a completely black screen or a screen where I saw my desktop but nothing worked. No files would open, no browsers would open, and even the settings box would not open, it just showed the cog wheel and the rest of the screen went black.
In the task manager, none of the system apps were shown to be even running. I kept shutting it down and restarting it over and over until finally I was able to make it work long enough to get into updates and go to the previous build.
But now I'm seeing that the windows 10 2004 update from May 2020 was never installed, it's trying to take me directly to 20H2. I'm guessing the skip is what is causing mass issues for my laptop, but when I go to check for updates it doesn't offer the 2004 version, just the 20H2 version that caused me all these issues.
We could also get feature updates and upgrade to the latest version by Windows 10 Update Assistant here, remember to disable your thrid-party antivirus software first.

If you have a device already running version 2004, the best way to install version 20H2 is using Windows Update. The reason is that both versions of Windows 10 are virtually the same, and you only need an enablement package to switch versions without reinstallation.
On the other hand, if you have a computer with version 1909 or an older version, you can also use the Windows Update settings, but it might take a while until you receive the new version. If you want to force the upgrade, you can use the Microsoft Media Creation Tool to perform an in-place upgrade, which is virtually the same as using Windows Update or Update Assistant. During the process, your files, apps, and settings will not be affected.

I'm running Windows 10 64-bit 1909. A few months back, I was informed that the feature update 2004 was ready to download, but as I read it was troublesome for some people, I put off upgrading for quite a while. Recently, the 2004 upgrade disappeared from Windows Update, replaced by upgrade 20H2. I checked, and I'm still running 1909. Sooner or later I guess I'll have to upgrade, so my question is:
You can upgrade to the current feature update by using the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant. Since the upgrade assistant and the media creation tool will only download the current feature update the only way to download and upgrade to 2004 would be through the ISO.
Upgrading to 2004 is unnecessary since 20H2 has been released. If you were to upgrade to 2004, you would still be upgraded to 20H2 through that enablement package, which would be installed automatically through Windows Update the next time Windows performed an update.
To upgrade to Windows 10 20H2 using ConfigMgr, you can either use the servicing plans or deploy the 20H2 feature update or enablement package. SCCM admins can deploy the Windows 10 20H2 enablement package to upgrade Windows 10 2004 to 20H2.
On the Scheduling page, you can choose the software available time. Since I want the feature update 20H2 to appear ASAP in Software center, I will select As soon as possible. Click Next.
Since I have made the 20H2 feature update available in software center, the update will show up once the clients receive the deployment. All the user needs to do is select the Windows 10 20H2 feature update and click Install.
Login back to the client computer and run the winver command to find the Windows 10 version and build details. If you see Windows 10 version as 20H2, smile and start preparing a plan to deploy to update to rest of the machines in your setup. Hope the steps to upgrade to Windows 10 20H2 using ConfigMgr helps.
Have an issue after upgrading from 1909 to 20H2.
Issue was, after upgrading to 20H2 after that 21H2 via enablement package is getting auto update direct from MS to client machine. Is any one seeing same issue? If yes, can please let me know how to avoid not to update 21H2 via enablement packacge.
The enablement package is a great option for installing a scoped feature update like Windows 10, version 21H2 as it enables an update from version 2004, or 20H2, or 21H1 to version 21H2 with a single restart, reducing update downtime. This enables devices to take advantage of new features now. For version 2004, 20H2, and 21H1 devices that receive updates directly from Windows Update, devices automatically get the enablement package by installing the feature update to Windows 10, version 21H2.
We have been Feature Updating to 20h2 versions 1803,1809 1903 and now have a stack of 1909s to update via FU to 20H2. Our problem is that after the successful FU devices will not then receive monthly Quality Updates as normal? Can anyone help please?
Cheers Ian Spencer
Feature Update from 1803 to 20h2 has worked fine in our environment. But after the installation, some of the configurations are missing, (company wall paper is missing and few other default apps are appearing)
thank you prajwal. So I ended up spending weekend upgrading config manager from 1810 to 2006.
Synchronized the software updates from config manager console, started seeing the 20H2 feature updates in the Windows 10 Servicing->all windows 10 updates node. However when i tried downloading the 20H2 it says all software updates in this selection are expired or meta-data only, and cannot be downloaded. please help what am i missing here ?
Hello, how much disc space is needed to perform a upgrade to 20h2 using service plan?
I see that the update is 3.77 but I think that is needed more space to descompress it and to manage the updates.
I have deployed 2004 feature upgrade however none of none of the clients gets installed with updates, infact in machine end no scan has initiated in WUAHANDLER.LOG. However machine showing in compliant.
Now we are using Microsoft Edge installed on Windows 1809.
We have version of Edge 85. I traid upgrade through SCCM like on this article. After upgrade to 20H2 Edge was downgraded to version 84.
It there some way how upgrade without downgrade Edge?
Thank you
First, check the Windows 10 feature release version you have. Click on Start, Settings, System, scroll down to the bottom, and choose About. If you scroll down to the Windows specifications section, you can see what version of Windows 10 you use. If it shows version 1909, you need to investigate why your machine has not yet received Windows 10 2004 or 20H1.
