I've found a free app called Autosync for Google Drive, which I use to keep my notes and bookmarks in sync.

Download Autosync for Google Drive:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.drivesync

Then select the andbible_backup folder on your device, and a folder on Google drive, and set it to auto sync using 'Two-Way Sync.'

This should keep your bookmarks and notes synced automatically every time you press the backup button within AndBible.

I previously wrote a script for another app called automate, but this solution is far more automatic. I definitely prefer it.

Blessings in Christ,
Matt

I found this thread when trying to get my head around https://llamalab.com/automate/community/flows/7130 and understand why there is a download link top right and an APP link at the bottom. Now I know what to do is not follow anything there, so could that post be updated  to reflect the more recent information.  Also AndBible on the APP store links to the originat Automate APP as a suggested Google Drive Backup.

The reason I am looking for this is because I lost my backup, or it never worked - who knows. I found a later one, but that was after I reset my phone so that's no help.. Now I am starting over I want to be sure that won't happen again. Thanks for sharing the tips and tricks though.

Hello Ana,
So sorry to hear that you lost all that hard work ... (having gone through it, I definely know that pain 😋)

Referring to that link you shared, I believe, Matt also shared then,  another app "Auto Sync for Google Drive" (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.drivesync)

If the folder that we try to backup/ restore is only one, this app is free. And this app is a life saver.. (I hope and pray, AndBible will have a built in option for BackUp/ Restore, one day -  for remote storage/ restore !!!)

Friendly reminder please - And Bible by itself don't have any backup file when we install it the first time. It creates that file only when we do the BackUp option. So whenever we do a Restore (on a brand new install), please create a local BackUp file first and then try to use the aforesaid Utilities to Restore data from Google DRIVE.
Blessings !!!

Thanks for the empathy and yes, it will be awesome when remote back-up is built in. For anyone else who might find the following helpful, I don't need to sync with other devices, just keep a cloud backup so rather than download another APP I used the following workaround - I used the file manager already on my phone to locate the .db backup (internal storage, not the SD card which andbible says it used!), selected the .db file and tapped share>selected google drive>selected a folder created there and uploaded. Yes, I have to follow several steps manually each time, but it doesn't take long. Simple.  my backup of 2 bookmarks and 1 note saved remotely. Ahhh,...the relief :-)

I'm glad you figured out a method.

If you're interested in automating part of that, try this.

Install the Drive Sync app, here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ttxapps.drivesync

Then, simply log into Google Drive and tell it to back up your andbible_backup folder to your desired location in Google drive.

Then tell set the sync type to be Upload Only.

Doing this will make it automatically upload a backup of your bookmarks.

Now all you have to do is back up in AndBible.

Give it a try, I think you'll like it!
