Dear Mr Chairperson, Mr Dembele,
I send you warm and fraternal greetings from Addis Aababa. Please receive my congratulations again for taking on the new leadership role as Chairperson of the Board of ANCEFA. I know it is not easy to be in the role you have, but with the contribution of each one of us and in working together in unity and harmony, we will be able to achieve good results.
I have noted very well this mail to the Regional Coordinator, Limbani, which you have also sent copies in the same mail to all board members, ANCEFA management Team and the Coordinator of GCE (Mr John).
I was not in Burkina Faso where the board deliberated on ANCEFA representation at the MOU review meeting at the end of January, however I did understand from the draft terms of reference and also from short consultation with GCE staff, ANCEFA board and management staff at the handover meeting of 13 November in Dakar, that the provision was for a few representatives of ANCEFA Board to be present and not all the board members. I may have got it wrong, but probably the board thoroughly deliberated on this issue and arrived at the suggestion that you are proposing. In any case, since you have copied this mail to the Coordinator of GCE, we hope that he will take your message into account when GCE is arranging the logistics.
I am aware that we are just less than 3 months into this new board, and we are all learning about ANCEFA and trying to understand how things have worked before, and make improvements in going forward. However, I am really surprised and saddened with the tone and language of your email. I wish to agree with the Vice Chairperson’s observation that it would have been better for you to address your difference with the coordinator in private rather than on a platform where we have a partner representative and also staff members whom the coordinator is supervising. I believe that the approach you have taken may not be in the best interest of the network. I would advise that you find a way of resolving this matter with the coordinator as soon as possible.
Given the sensitivity of the issues above, I am inclined not to write more than what I have stated. I may have to write you in private should I reflect on other information. I also pledge my availability any time if you need me to help on this and other matters that may arise.
I wish you all the best as you continue to promote the visions and mission of ANCEFA.
Please receive my sincere regards.
Dear Board Chairperson,
Further to my earlier mail, i wish to send you and the entire board of ANCEFA my sincere apology for the error made. It was not deliberate. Henceforth, i will send you the list of participants for you to review and approve before submitting to GCE secretariat to assist in preparations for the meeting in Addis.
Best regards.
