- Happy day after International Women's Day. Another day to show all the women in your life you love and
respect them. We hope you celebrated yesterday.
Here are some great stories from women who have made history.
- Mayor Bowser announced the launch of the pre-registration site for vaccine appointments will be tomorrow (Weds the 10th). The site
will allow everyone eligible to register, then appointments will be prioritized to those in the following groups: 40% for those 65 and older, 40% for D.C. residents 18-64 with medical conditions and
20% for eligible workers. DC Health has noted this will change frequently and will fluctuate based on need and priority zip codes.
- In other vaccine news, neighborhood level data has become available. Approximately 11.2% of DC's population is partially or fully
vaccinated. however these vaccinations are taking place in wealthy zip codes. the CEO of Bread for The City explains his thoughts and perspective on vaccine equity (or not) in this piece. You
can also dive into the numbers here. The image below shows more.
- ANC 1B held a successful neighborhood cleanup. Just this past Saturday, Commissioner Behna, Commissioner Ewart & Commissioner Floy
organized over 20 neighbors to come out and clean up the community. In addition to the three, Commissioner Harris, myself and many new friends attended and helped fill over 20 trash bags! See a fun picture below, and look out for more community clean ups coming
soon.
- Did you watch Oprah, Harry and Meghan? You should. The full livestream is available on YouTube TV, Hulu+ and more.
Here are a few highlights. Phew! What a conversation.
- Amanda Gorman mural up in DuPont. The
'larger than life' mural tributes the talented poet laureate.

- Vaccine rollout ramps up. As we mentioned, vaccine numbers by neighborhood are available. In addition to
fighting for vaccine equity in DC, we are also fighting for more vaccine from the federal government.
Here is an interesting page from HHS on vaccine distribution.
- COVID-19 cases
are continuing at the same level we have seen for the past week. While the 'curve' from the second wave seems flattened, we must remain
vigilant. We are averaging 16 positive cases per day with under 10% of all patients in our hospitals are those being treated for COVID-19. This is a significant improvement from prior weeks.
- We say it each week - turn on your phone setting that will track COVID-19 exposure. Like Amanda and Commissioner
Harris, I have turned on the app, have you? This software is geared towards stopping the spread, increasing the ability to contact trace, and is specifically based on where you've been. Learn
more about the app.

Yesterday, the Mayor and First Gentleman visited a business neighboring ANC 1B - Hook Hall. Throughout the pandemic, Hook Hall's owner Anna Valero
has done amazing work for the hospitality industry and beyond. We will take a moment to highlight some hyper-local heroes this month. Anna is one of them! Learn more about her work:
- Hook Hall Helps. Hook Hall distributes care kits and meals to industry workers. They are home to a welcoming
and 'no questions' environment where distribution happens at their open window on Georgia Ave.
- The event with Mayor Bowser and the First Gentleman took place just yesterday on IWD2021.
Watch their video here.
- Join them for drinks. Are you interested in supporting this business who does such great work? Grab a reservation
for one of their fire places or huts. I'll meet you there.
