TODAY (9/10), 12 PM - 4PM at Mt. Pleasant Library (3160 16th Street)

Join our fantastic team at the Mt. Pleasant/Ward 1 library and ANC 1A to learn more about the services and resources available to residents to support their mental health and well-being.

Meet our providers to learn more about the work they are doing to serve you and your neighbors.

These include:
  • Sky Breath Meditation: A FREE service under Mayor Bowser's FITDC initiative, provides weekly sessions, courses, and more to help residents learn breathing and relaxation techniques for improved health outcomes.
  • Department of Behavioral Health: Multilevel services targeting prevention, intervention, and treatment across age groups and needs.
  • SMYAL: Programming and services for LGBTQ youth. They offer housing assistance, group programming, and FREE counseling services.
  • La Clinica del Pueblo: Health access for our immigrant community that is culturally competent. They offer a range of mental health services for adults, and youth, including in-school behavioral health support, substance abuse, and more.
  • LAYC: Provides a range of services across the needs of youth - tutoring/OST, job training, housing, mental health, and substance abuse treatments. They will provide training on administering Narcan (naloxone), a drug that can reverse opioid overdose.
  • Children's Medical Center: Preventative care and treatment services for youth. They also have a Gender Development Program that supports children and parents/caretakers.
Access to care is critical, and as we all navigate the challenges and stressors of the pandemic, it's essential to know where and how to ask for support.

It also reminds us of how invaluable our public library and the team working there are as partners in our community. Our library is more than books! They are a trusted resource and a critical touchpoint for many of our residents.

Hope to see you all there!

Best,

Christine
