Subject: [ward5] Emergency Legislation for Crummell School Vote Tuesday!
PLEASE CONTACT THE CITY COUNCIL IN SUPPORT OF IVY
CITY:
Councilman Vincent Orange has introduced Emergency Legislation preventing the use of the
Crummell
School property as a parking lot! The notice circulated urges the Mayor not to appeal the Injunction won by
Ivy
City residents, and to find an alternate location for the tour buses. This follows Ward 5 Councilman Kenyan McDuffie's letter to the Mayor urging the same.
WE NEED 9 VOTES TO PASS THIS LEGISLATION ON TUESDAY
Please email the Council urging them to support! Sample message is:
Dear Councilmembers, I urge you to unanimously support Emergency legislation introduced by Councilman Vincent Orange preventing the use of the historic Crummell School for the parking of buses.
Ivy
City residents won an injunction against the use of the property as a parking lot. Any appeal by the Mayor would be a tragic waste of taxpayer resources. DC's Comprehensive Plan and other plans urge greening and revitalization of
the site. Bus parking at Crummell, in the heart of a residential community already burdened with over 12 acres of city-managed parking lots, is not the right decision for the
Ivy
City community or the city. I urge you to vote in support on Tuesday.
