Mr. Miller:
To speed things up, we’ve decided to prune the eight trees we identified last week with our own “in-house” resources. That will happen either late this week or early next week.
Thank you.

Commissioner Miller and Mr. Doxen:
Thank you for accompanying me on a visual inspection of trees that, to varying degrees, can be pruned---some more than others---to enable more light falling to the street/sidewalk on K Street NE.
On our list, created this afternoon, are eight trees along K Street NE, between 2nd and 9th Street. None of the eight trees identified today had pre-existing pruning work orders. These are all new work orders that will be expedited.
· 327 K St NE
· 401 K St NE
· 426 K St NE
· 507 K St NE
· 520.5 K St NE
· 800 blk K St NE (south side, closest to 8th Street)
· 806 K Street NE
· 815 K Street NE
It will take a few days to mobilize our pruning contractors. Please feel free to stay in touch with me for updates.
Thank you.

Commissioner Miller,
UFA is pleased to review the area in question. At present we have only a single tree scheduled for pruning along that part of K St that is in your SMD, at 303 K St NE. If you have specific areas of concern I would ask that you place them into 311, which helps us to understand your precise concerns. Alternatively, we could meet on site with you to review the exact locations, if you would prefer. Please advise, and thanks!

Has a 311 request been entered? The UFA team does a great job of scheduling work using 311. That said, Earl Eutsler is the Acting Associate Director of UFA and can assist with tree-related questions.
I’m still tracking down the question about the alley.
Thanks,
Adrea

Also, could you please tell me who would be an appropriate contact in the UFA to discuss tree trimming? K Street NE has a lengthy prostitution problem, and trimming the trees along the area in question would help in keeping sex workers away from the area, via reducing cover and increasing visibility. Thank you!
Oh wow! I didn't even know we had this situation going on!
Sent from my iPhoneIt's my understanding that the tree pruning helps make the area more visible and harder to participate in illegal activity. On Thu, Apr 14, 2016 at 11:18 AM, Elinor <eli...@rennerpack.net> wrote:So many questions.... Was that a typo? What word did that autocorrect from? Do we have a prostitute problem? How is that related to tree pruning?

The no right turn signs are intended to give MPD an excuse to pull over johns when they are circling the block. The johns are almost always from the suburbs.
Over here on the NE side of K, they come out from the later part of the evening until dawn. They tend be present between 2nd and 8th Streets. People walking dogs can still see them out on K at 6 AM on a regular basis.
