Good Morning Ms. Kelly,

My name is Victor Gilkes and I have been living at 610 G Street NE for 18 1/2 years.  Now that H street is developing fast, we (home owners) have parking problems in the 600 block of G Street NE.

1. Employees of the Dept of Human Services on 7th and H Street NE, are using the parking passes from the DCPD consistently, to park in the restricted spaces for zone 6 only.  The parking enforcement personnel know the vehicles very well.  There are two particular vehicles that have been doing it for 2 years.

2.  On the south side of the street, there were signs "no parking between the hours of 8 am - 4:30 pm" due to Ludlow elementary school hours.  The street signs were taken down and never put back up.  Now, vehicles are park there for days without moving.  The employees from Dept go Human services, Metro riders, and everyone else, park on that side of the street.  This part of the street has 2 other streets that connect and they have the original signs, "no parking between the hours of 8 am - 4:30 pm" due to Ludlow elementary school hours.

Can we get any assistance on these parking issues?  Is there anything that the homeowners can do to assist in the process of resolving these issues.  The employees take spaces that we should be able to use during the day.  I have to constantly call 311 to come out and ticket the vehicles parking illegally on the north side of 600 G Street NE.

Regards...... Victor Gilkes, 202-438-6993
