The following happens: I downloaded WhatsApp on my phone, which had a backup linked to my email. I accessed WhatsApp Web on a computer with a virus, logged out from there, reset my phone to factory settings, reinstalled WhatsApp, but it no longer had the backup. Then, I accessed WhatsApp Web again. Is there a risk that some virus could once again access the information that was in my backup?"

It's also possible that when accessing WhatsApp Web on the computer with the virus using the backup, the virus may have collected information even though I later logged out. I approximately opened WhatsApp Web for 20 minutes

There is a certain idea that mobile systems are usually more secure than desktop due to how compartmentalized apps are on mobile. Of course there are a lot of apps who not only see other ones but also interact with them (not to mention malware), but my point is that being able to access your backup (which stays in the Google/Apple cloud) is something that you explicitly have to allow.

What you are asking is if a web application on another device could circumvent both browser and your phone's safety features to directly access the data in your cloud account to not tamper or ransom it (which is probably encrypted), but just to delete it. That would be a hell of a zero-day, and unless you are a high-valued target, it simply was not the case. (and even if you are, the effort would not match the result).

The only thing it would make sense for you to worry about is if that supposed malware has read your messages, which is possible. In the worst case scenario, it could have read passwords you sent in plain text or other sensitive information, so just change anything you think it's important, warn your closest contacts and just move on.

Sometimes you might need to access and/or transfer your phone data from your computer. In this case, the most reliable solution is to connect the two devices with a cable. Your computer should reco...

Audaity will only record from one thing or device. Somehow you have to reduce your conversations to a single sound channel and record that. Most comunications systems are not at all happy with that because they have to carefully maintain two different sound channels to avoid feedback, network damage, and other distortions.

Set up a three-way call with two computers on your side. The magic computer has no microphone or a microphone in full Mute. Set up to record the speaker or headphone feed. Start the recording. You two carry on as normal. The magic third computer listens to everything and shovels it all off to Audacity with little or no damage.

The smaller MacBook Air has newer compression drivers under the keyboard instead of speakers and I have no trouble watching and listening to a movie on this thing. This, a quiet room, and my iPhone in record mode would make a terrific third computer.

As far as I can tell, Audacity is working with these precise settings.

Before you can view and manage your conversations on your PC or Mac, you'll need to make sure the WhatsApp app on your iPhone or Android phone is up to date by checking for any pending updates in your phone's respective app store.

With that done, download and install the Windows or MacOS version of WhatsApp on your computer. Alternatively, if you're using a computer that you can't install apps on, visit WhatsApp Web, which is basically a version of the app, but built for your browser.

Keep in mind, your phone will still need to have a mobile data or Wi-Fi connection in order for the app on your computer to communicate with the app on your phone. So if for example, you're traveling in another country and your phone doesn't have a connection, you won't be able to use WhatsApp on a computer.

3. After you scan the code, you'll be able to see your WhatsApp messages on your phone and in the browser. WhatsApp recommends leaving your phone connected to Wi-Fi and not just mobile data to avoid any data overages.

5. After you scan the code, you'll be able to see your WhatsApp messages on your phone and in the app. Again, WhatsApp recommends leaving your phone connected to a Wi-Fi network in order to reduce the amount of mobile data used.

Once you've installed the app or you're logged in to the Web interface, anyone with access to your computer can view your WhatsApp conversations as long as you're logged in. If your computer is password-protected, that's probably not a big deal. But if you use WhatsApp Web from a public computer, sign out when you're finished. You can do that by clicking on the three-dot menu icon and selecting Log out.

If you forget to log out of WhatsApp Web on a computer that's not yours, or you suspect someone has accessed your account, you can log out of all active sessions by visiting the same settings page you used to scan the QR Code in the mobile app and selecting Log out from all devices.

I have thousands of pictures in WhatsApp. Now my phone is full and I want to save those pictures to an external hard drive and then delete all pictures and chats on whatsapp to make some room again. This room would allow me to update my phone to a newer iOS Version and use my phone again. I tried the automatic download function in whatsapp, but nothing happens. NO picture is transferred to my camera roll. I tried hard reset, I tried restart, activate the function, deactivate the function, etc. I also backed the chats and everything up to the icloud and made backups on my computer of the phone. When I am in my media from whatsapp, I can only mark 5 pictures and save to camera roll myself. But considering I have thousands, that would be a very hard work and annoying. Do you have a solution for me? Thank you!!!!

Nice, this post was three years ago. Now, there are a lot of software can recover deleted WhatsApp messages and attachments, just search on Google. However, they have some limitations, not the 100% can recover lost files successfully.

I'm facing a similar issue. I made a big mistake by choosing the 32 GB variant of iPhone 6s. I'm left with around 2 GB space so I now have to keep deleting the files to free-up space. WhatsApp attachments (photos and videos) is the main culprit in my case too. Some of these files are important so I can't simply delete them and also I cannot connect my iPhone to my computer and transfer these media files to my computer.

I just found this third-party tool and tried to transfer images, video and other attachments to my computer and it worked. So now I will transfer all the media content that I don't access on a regular basis and then I'll delete it from my iPhone. I don't think there is any other way. Next time I'm definitely going to buy the 128 GB version.

micheal_hendrick, this really helped me. Thanks! I faced the similar problem on my 32 GB iPhone 6s. I wanted to transfer WhatsApp pictures and videos to my computer but it is not possible to simply connect the iPhone to computer and transfer the media content. Thank god new iPhone's are starting at 64 GB storage.

Go inside this folder, choose a voice note that you want to send to your computer. These audio notes file names are starting with PTT.

Select "Share" option and choose from available choices such as Email, Gmail, Bluetooth etc. Send it using any one of these and receive it on your computer.

If you connected via USB, then you may want to copy these files to External SD-card and then browse it using file explorer via PC. Those files be shown as ADTS Audio files which you then can copy into your computer/PC.

I'm saying this judging from the screenshot you just posted. It looks like the icon representing your phone is a camera icon n the only folders you can see are DCIM (photos) and Pictures. Basing on this, I'd like to assume your phone's USB computer connection is currently set to camera PTP instead of Media Device (MTP).

Open the file manager folder on your device. Then open file named WhatsApp/Media/WhatsApp Audio then select the audio you wanna transfer. Click on share button after the audio been selected. Choose any of sharing options e.g Bluetooth Email or WhatsApp if your PC has WhatsApp installed in. Or you can just transfer it through USB (Media Transfer) to connect your device and computer.

With over 2 billion users in over 180 countries, WhatsApp is easily the most popular and widely-used messaging application across devices. And with over 100 billion messages sent every day on the platform, WhatsApp is definitely one of the most frequently used apps in general.

Since its release, over the years, WhatsApp has grown to introduce applications for all mobile operating systems (Android, BlackBerry OS, Windows Phone, and others). WhatsApp developers also released the WhatsApp web client (which can be used on all major web browsers on PCs and Macs) and the WhatsApp desktop application (for Windows OS and macOS).

In the last few years, WhatsApp implemented new features like end-to-end encryption, which made decryption of intercepted messages over the air practically impossible. While users and privacy advocates welcomed the new setup supposed to keep their messages more secure, it spelled trouble for law enforcement agencies who had to find new methods of obtaining suspects' communications history.

A user simply has to visit the WhatsApp web page on a supported browser and then scan the QR code there using the WhatsApp app on their smartphone (usually an iPhone or Android device). These are the supported browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari.WhatsApp desktop applicationA user has to visit the WhatsApp download page, fetch the appropriate package, and then run the file to install the application.
