Thefiles are hosted on another firms platform & I have been given access to this (I can get onto their project portal & see/download the files). I also have made sure to assign myself one of our BIM 360 Design seats we purchased.
Thanks for your post! Assuming that appropriate folder permissions have been assigned, this issue is likely due to a lack of BIM 360 Design entitlements. Check out: Workshared cloud model grayed out in BIM 360 section on Revit home.
This has happened to us in the last couple of days. Some users were seeing the greyed out files when trying to access them from Revit. Last week all users were able to access the files. The issue was that we had some users on Classic User Management, and some were added under the new 'By Product' system. I went to double check this and seen that the BIM 360 Design assignment was removed from Classic User Management, so I had to add those users under the new system by using the 'By Products' section in the new User Interface for assigning licenses. This fixed the issue for my team anyway.
Hi. I have a revit 2020 and bim 360 subscription and we are a team of 3, with me working remotely. I am trying to access the cloud shared model, I can see the files but they are greyed out and I am unable to access them. I checked my team members' autodesk account and they are exactly the same as mine but its just me who is facing this issue. It would be great if someone could help me solve this as I have already spent 2 days trying to make this work with no positive result. Thanks
One of the model families (Generic Model) has incredibly complex geometries in it, that i want to filter out of the resultant SLPK. However, when i select my model in the Contents panel, the "Building Filter" tool isn't available from the "Manage" ribbon (it should be).
I have managed to find out (by adding the tool to the quick access ribbon) that this tool is greyed out, and hoevering over it yields the following tip: This Command is currently disabled: The layer is missing statistical information.
Is that something I can resolve? Or is there something fundamentally wrong with the Revit file? Or has Pro 2.5 been released with Revit 2020 functionality, without ensuring all Pro tools are compatible?
My understanding of the issue posted by you is that you would like to published a Building Layer (BL) without any Generic Model elements from a Revit file (Revit 2020). To accomplished this on Pro 2.5 this is my recommended workflow
The building filter is only available on building scene layers for 2.5 so that is why it is grayed out for the building layer (from revit). Currently the only workflow then is to add the filter after the building scene layer package has already been created.
I do have some good news though in that we have worked with the CAD team to add this functionality in 2.6. The manage tab for building layers (from revit) will include the building filter button along with a button for generating statistics on the building layer. I can keep you posted when the ArcGIS Pro 2.6 beta comes out if you want to check out the functionality before final release in June (tentatively)
Also David, I just saw your comment in another thread and there is actually a different workflow you can use to remove the Generic Model from the building layer. My colleague from the CAD/Revit team will be posting in that thread shortly.
My next challenge is that some of the model elements from Revit appear to be offset in the x y and z from the main bulk of the model (up to kilometres away in some cases. This potentially implies that they aren't referencing the base/survey points correctly somewhere between Revit and Pro.
Rick Marx I think I isolated the cause. The Revit customization folder in my Roaming folder was not created during install (there was a mystery extension-less file in there preventing the folder from being created, maybe due to a failed install). I cleaned that section up and since then Enscape has been running fine.
Can you please elaborate on "The Revit customization folder in my Roaming folder was not created during install" and provide details of fixing this issue? As far as i know, Roaming folders (for any application) are not created at the point of installation but at the point of opening application for the very first time.
That was the point: it could not be created because at some point (either on install or on first launch) a file without file extension was created that was named the same way as the customization folder (for example "Autodesk Revit 2022"). Because a file with that name was already there, Revit could not create the customization folder (each name can only exists once in a given directory). That doesn't actually prevent revit from launching but it does prevent settings from being saved, and apparently it also caused the Enscape ribbon to be completely greyed out. Deleting the file and restarting revit worked.
When you say "file without file extension" are you referring to something below? We call these "stub" files which look like folders but they are actually files. These can compromise installation of the software, i.e. during the installation it expects path to be accessible for application to place ADDIN file in but if it doe snot get what it wants it will simply fail. deleting these Stub files resolves the issue.
The path where the 'stub" file was located was %appdata%\autodesk\revit The stub file itself was called "Autodesk Revit 2022", therefor it was blocking the path %appdata%\autodesk\revit\autodesk revit 2022 of being created. I don't know why (as far as I can tell, Enscape doesn't store files in here) but in our case that was the reason the Enscape ribbon was greyed out. Deleting the stub file and restarting revit fixed the greyed out enscape tab. Maybe Revit just blocks (certain types of) plugins when the customization folder cannot be created?
I am also running into this issue on version 2020 through 2022 of Revit. I have noticed that the "0_Enscape.AddIn" file is not being created or copied into the respective version of the Revit addins folders located C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\20xx
Hey Reo , I'm sorry you're running into these issues. Sadly, Revit 2019 is not among the Revit versions (2022 - 25) that are supported by Enscape 4.0. Is there a chance for you to try if it works fine in Revit 2022 or newer?
Hello.
As a user, I want to share my opinion about Enscape 4.0 not working on Revit 2019... while 3.5 works.
Revit 2019 is still used widely, because it was the last version which you can have a permanent license.
Even today, it is standard for many people, since Revit never supported backward compatibility
So you are asking whole companies, to give up their permanent licenses and turn to subscription model for Revit, to keep using Enscape
Please reconsider
Regards
Having this issue on Revit 24, although one project Enscape works fine, yet on another all functionality is greyed out.
Tried Enscape 4.0 but they tab was removed so can's launch Enscape. Re-Installed 3.5 and still the same issue.
This problem can be caused by having a locked VI or library contained within your project. I would recommend that you check the files stored within your project to see if any of them are locked. You can do this by right clicking on the file and selecting properties.
This must be caused by an item contained within the project. If none of the files are locked then the next process will be manually copying the files and adding them back to the project. After copying each file check to see if the 'save as' option is still greyed out. Whilst this is not an ideal solution it should fix the issue and will help narrow down what file is causing it.
FWIW to anyone coming across this thread, I had grayed out save as on everyrthing, apparently caused by a background vi. When I shut down everything and brought it up without executing, the save as was back everywhere.
The amount of time it takes to save the current model is a little over 10 minutes! We had the auto save set to 15mins, but had to change that as half the day was spent waiting for the model to save. The .drs file itself is only 1.6mb with the project directory totalling about 1.56Gb.
The views we are running are external, so the assets in the model (a 6 storey apartment block) are primarily vegetation, cars and people. We look at some of the asset heavy models on the website, eg forest scenes and wonder how long it takes to save those?! We have nowhere near the amount of information in our model.
When in rendering (image or animation) mode, the library icon is greyed out (not clickable). If this is not the case, please send us the logs file to locate the cause. Also, is the icon always grey? Or is it no longer grey after waiting for a while?
