Hello, everyone,
it's been a while since last I took to this list - more than two years, by my reckoning.

Since then, the downloads have gone offline and you wrote many messages regarding the state of Anathema, its availability and individual issues. Messages that I haven't answered, neither directly nor in public.

Some years ago, I was quite optimistic to have a 3E version of Anathema ready soon-ish. As I said back during the first Kickstarter: I was committed to Exalted and Anathema, long-term, and was hoping to make it the default character management tool for 3E.

Long-term is not forever, though, and by the time the book finally dropped, my excitement had waned. Still warm, but burning no longer. By then, developing Anathema was down to me alone, and IIRC, some people were already hot to build their own character management tool. (Did they ever?)

Then, when one day life hit me hard, it was all I could do to drop the project for good, filter/ignore all of your messages and cut my losses by cancelling the quite expensive subscription for the server that, among other things, hosted the build server.

Looking back, I should have given you advance warning, as I am sure that someone would have at least picked up the bill for the server. And looking back for a second time, money wasn't the issue, though I did not know that back then.

So it has come to this: It has taken me this long to get over the fact that not only am I no longer a developer, but also that I probably won't return to Exalted anytime soon. Which is only the peak of the proverbial iceberg, but it's what matters here.

Now, finally, I have killed the filters, so I am available under the usual channels and on this mailing list once more, should anyone still care, and will answer your messages.
I have about 30 unanswered mails in my inbox from you guys, and the least you will get from me is an individual apology.

Thank you for the good times and thanks for holding out for me
Urs

Urs,

Thank you for the update. I'm sorry to hear of the troubles that you had, and I hope that while you may not be coming back to develop things are at least improving for you otherwise.

The only thing I would ask is if you happen to have any versions of the installer still hanging around. It may not be an active tool, but for those who still play 1st or 2nd edition exalted it could still be valuable, and I wouldn't mind looking into a way to host it.

Best wishes,

Jason

Jason,
thank you for the good wishes.

I don't have the files around anymore, since my development PC broke down since, but it should be possible for you or a developer of your acquaintance to clone the project from github and re-build the installer as it last were. I don't want to go in there too deep, but if all else fails, I could give you pointers. Just drop me a PM.

Cheers
Urs

Hey Urs!

Thanks for your message. I wondered what might have happened to you...

Sadly, yours is not the first account I've heard of people who have stepped away from Exalted. The 3rd edition was supposed to be a huge comeback for the game, but all the problems in the development and in the release of the book almost (?) killed it.

I hope everything worked out fine for you. You did a hell of a job with Anathema, and you're a fine gentleman as well.

I can only wish you all the best in all your future endeavors.

Peace,
Francisco
