Dear Friends,

We have sent many emails on this and you might be wondering why one more write-up :) - This one is just to let everyone know what sort of effect the event can create if  it can reach out to everyone involved.

The children in Ananya, Snehadaan and other schools have shown tremendous changes in their physical ability, health and outlook towards life. Running has instilled a sense of passion and discipline that need not be imposed from outside. Many of the children are at risk - of being victims of substance abuse, child abuse, violence etc. Running has helped bring a positive approach and a boost in confidence. Participating in the events and going for the running trips has brought all the children together. There has been great learning experiences as the children came closer to members of our community. We have even started tying concepts in classroom to running - math problems on running, learning about physiology and how the body works from the perspective of improving performance and health - the list is endless. These running trips and training have been a major educational experience for the children.

Lets do our bit by getting as many folks as possible to register! We have only 3 weeks left for registrations and less than 80 paid registrations so far. To just reach 'break even' we need about 650 paid registrations. We are a long way from raising any sort of funds through the event! Please do help out and spread the word! We can even come and present to groups to improve registrations. We can present at your companies or you can help us by getting groups of 10 or more to register as a bulk from your apartments or companies!

This year we are facing a major challenge with TCS shifting to a week before Ananda Yana. As you all know, our simple event might get overshadowed! Please do pitch in and if each of us can actively get 4-5 registrations, we can reach our target quickly and also make a difference in 4-5 lives! -  PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND GET AS MANY REGISTRATIONS AS POSSIBLE  http://anandayana.runnershigh.in/

We are also short on volunteers. Only 44 of you have volunteered. We usually get 100-120 volunteers every year. This poses a lot of strain in the organisation of the event. Ananda Yana is your event and let's come together for a positive change in many many lives!

Please do read through the form and volunteer for the tasks here - http://tinyurl.com/AY2018-volunteering

Thanks,
Santhosh.

Dear Friends,

We are glad to announce Ananda Yana 2018!! The coordination team has been formed and preparations have started. We have now opened registrations as well!

What is Ananda Yana ?
'Ananda Yana' as an event was conceptualized by Runners High http://www.tinyurl.com/ananda-yana-concept ). At the coaches retreat in Feb, 2013 (the very first one), all of us felt that the community needed an event that brings us all together with other runners and non-runners in Bangalore. We were also looking for ways to generate more funds for the community efforts we were involved with while creating much needed awareness about our training for the children, their needs etc. At the same time, we all lamented the dearth of events that celebrated the true spirit of running in the sense of cooperation and community. There was also increasingly an environment that promoted ruthless competition and a culture of unnecessary consumerism. Why not an event sans timing, the frills, no plastic, filled with positive spirit, smiles and a wonderful breakfast? Why not a run that will bring all runners and non-runners together to celebrate each other than to promote competition ? Why not a run that will bring all the children and staff of the cause on the same platform as the runners contributing to the cause? Thus, Ananda Yana was born with its core philosophy and vision.

Ananda Yana 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 were all a grand success! We received a very positive feedback from all participants. They all felt the event was unlike many they have been part of. Many many runners started with Ananda Yana and got hooked on to running as a habit! Everyone truly enjoyed the spirit of the event. So much so that one of the years, when the timing clock went haywire, no participants noticed - they were busy dancing to the great tunes from the wonderful band :) - We had met our objective of creating an event that promoted community and cooperation. A feeling of positivity all around!

The event raised close to 16 lakhs in the last five years. We have used these funds towards procurement of good running shoes for the children of the various initiatives we are involved with and meeting their nutrition needs. The shoes helped the children train better and also helped us inculcate the habit of taking care of their belongings with care. We created separate shelves to keep their shoes. They used the shoes only for running and ensure that they were maintained regularly. You can read more about how the funds raised was spent here

This year, again we look forward to raise funds for supplementing the nutrition of the children who are training for various sports program. Lets all come together to create an event that celebrates the community!

Volunteering at the event:
We will need a lot of volunteer support (close to 100-150 volunteers) to conduct the event smoothly. Please do read through the form and volunteer for the tasks here - http://tinyurl.com/AY2018-volunteering

Registering to run in the event:
As mentioned earlier in the start of the program, ALL runners who are paid members of RH need not pay a registration fee for the event. When we open registrations we kindly request those who want to avail the 'FREE' registration to wait for the discount code to be used. Also, the free registration is only for the paid members of RH. We request your friends and family to register through the normal channels as this is a fundraising event and every registration counts!!

We look forward to your support for making Ananda Yana 2018 a grand success!!

PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD AND GET AS MANY REGISTRATIONS AS POSSIBLEhttp://anandayana.runnershigh.in/

If you can help us with group registrations and/or want a presentation to be organised at your company for the same, please let Shiva Prasad <shiva....@gmail.com> or Srinivasan Iyer <srin...@gmail.com> or me know.

Thanks,
Santhosh.
