SANNYAS CENTENARY YEAR OF BELOVED PAPA SWAMI RAMDAS
(27th December 2021-22)
27th December 2022 is a momentous historic occasion that marks the centenary of Revered Swami Ramdas’ renunciation (Sannyas). On this blessed day, a hundred years ago, on the banks of the river Kaveri at Srirangam, Vittal Rao, as Beloved Papa was then known, renounced all that bound him to this mundane world and adopted Sannyas and the name ‘Ramdas’.
Beloved Papa’s Sannyas serves as a beacon of fiery aspiration, inspiring sincere seekers to hasten on in their spiritual quest. It reminds us of the true meaning and purpose of our lives. It makes us introspect and gauge as to where we stand in our spiritual quest and as to where we are heading.
As we reverentially observe this centenary year (27 December 2021 – 27 December 2022), which we hold on to as a sacred event in the Ashram’s history, we are offered an opportunity to imbibe the teachings of Beloved Papa through an in-depth study of his seminal autobiographical book — IN QUEST OF GOD (IQG) — not merely as a fascinating travelogue, but as a manual with marked milestones for our spiritual journey.
An introduction to the upcoming year-long programmes in connection with the Sannyas Centenary are given by Pujya Swami Muktanandaji in a video shared on YouTube, the link of which is given here: https://youtu.be/ki_4jiNSqyg
