Dear friends and colleagues,
I would like to invite you to the opening preview of an exhibition I have curated, titled Planetary Gestures to be held on Saturday the 23rd September 2pm - 4pm.
Planetary Gestures features the work of both Australian and Asian International artists including Amrita Hepi, Susie Losch, Raqs Media Collective, Rirkrit Tiravanija, Jimmy John Thaiday and Trevor Yeung. The preview will occur on Bunurong country, at Walker St Gallery, City of Greater Dandenong, just south east of Melbourne, further https://www.greaterdandenong.vic.gov.au/greater-dandenong-council/events/planetary-gestures-opening-preview
I was fortunate to be commissioned by NorthSite Contemporary Art in Gimuy Cairns to curate Planetary Gestures, which showed in Cairns February - April this year. The second chapter of Planetary Gestures will continue at Walker St Gallery from 26th September to 3rd November 2023. I am proud to show the work of these talented artists together, at the second location in the City of Dandenong, which has been a Refugee Welcome Zone since 2002, and is the most culturally and linguistically diverse local government area in Australia.
A corresponding exhibition publication will be available to purchase at the opening, and throughout the course of the exhibition, and further public programs will be announced with time, including artist-led programs.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions about the exhibition, and I look forward to welcoming you to the opening preview!
Kind wishes,
Tess
