Tisna Sanjaya stands as one of Indonesia’s most important contemporary artists. His practice embraces etching, painting, installation and performance, often mobilised to confront the political and environmental emergencies facing both his home city of Bandung
in West Java and the world at large. Cultural Amnesia presents his dramatic recent paintings which expose legacies of systemic corruption inherited from the New Order regime. The works are sombre portraits of our current era and its hypocrisies. This will
be Tisna’s first solo exhibition and performance in Sydney.
