The 2025 Davis lecture is coming up on Wednesday November 5, at 5pm-6.30pm. You can attend the lecture live at the University of Sydney's New Law Lounge Room (details in the link below), or register for the online broadcast (ditto). Either way, please do register for the event!

This year's lecture will be delivered by Professor Li Narangoa, Professor of Asian History at the ANU, on a particularly exciting topic that will be of broad interest to anyone concerned with memory studies, and transnational encounters in myth and history: "Legends in Stone and Story: The Mongol Invasions in Japan’s Memoryscape"

Li Narangoa is Professor of Asian History at The Australian National University and founding director of the ANU Mongolia Research Institute. Her research spans modern Japanese and Mongolian history, memory, and cultural encounters across Asia.

Organised by the Australian Society for Asian Humanities, supported by Japanese Studies at the University of Sydney. The A. R. Davis Memorial Lecture is held annually to commemorate A. R. Davis, Professor of Oriental Studies at the University of Sydney and an important scholar for Asian Studies in post-war Australia.
